Hana Yori Dango

Hana Yori Dango (花より男子) is a shoujo series written by Kamio Yoko. It ran in Margaret from October 1992 to September 2003 spanning 36 volumes and a special 37th one. In the middle of the manga run, Toei Animation produced an anime tackling the early half of the series. It was broadcasted by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation from September 1996 to August 1997 and spanned 51 episodes.

In 2003, Viz announced that it has licensed both the manga and anime. In July of that year, they released the first manga volume and in September, the first DVD volume of the anime. Aside from English, the manga is also published in French.

Aside from the anime, the series was also adapted to a couple of films, several tv series both in Japan and overseas, and a GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS video games.

The story revolves around Makino Tsukushi, a poor high school girl enrolled in Eitoku Gakuen, an exclusive school for the rich and priviledged. The school is ran by F4, four boys from the most elite family of them all. When Tsukushi didn't back down from their harassments, the leader of F4, Domyouji Tsukasa, took an interest in her. Because Domyouji's hot-headed and a bully, Tsukushi shunned him and was instead attracted to another F4, Hanazawa Rui, the silent one in the group with a never-do-care attitude. What follows is a love triangle between the three that later ended with Tsukushi falling in love with a sorta-reformed Domyouji.
