Chocobo World
Chocobo World is a side-quest game of Final Fantasy 8. You play it using the PocketStation for the PlayStation or a small windows application for the PC. There's a stand-alone PC program for the Chocobo World below. Take note though that this will not work with Final Fantasy 8 for the PC. So any items you get from the game below, you can't import it to your FF8 game.
Introduction
What's the premise of Chocobo World? Chocobo World is a story about our feathered friend, Boko, who's looking for Mog all around the world, meets up with his friends, and eventually meets the girl chocobo of his dreams named Coco. Later in the story, he goes off to save Coco after she gets kidnapped by the evil demon king. Then they live happily ever after roaming around Chocobo World.
Think of this small mini-game as an upgraded tamagotchi pet (Google it if you don't know what a tamagotchi is). Instead of just feeding, cleaning, playing and nursing your pet, in this case Boko, you let him roam around the world, get into battles to level up, find some items both common and rare for you to use in the FF8 world and learn some abilities that you can use for your FF8 battles.

Tips & Tricks
I won't go in-depth since there are a couple of FAQs at the FF8 PC section at GameFAQs. Check those out if you want to learn more about the game. Nevertheless, here are some tips and things that you should keep in mind when playing this stand-alone application for Chocobo World.
- Consult the map once in a while to know where the events are. Events are indicated as stationary dots. The blinking dot is where Boko is.
- You can make Boko move faster towards an event by pressing down on the arrow keys or the direction that you want Boko to go to.
- Moomba appears once in a while as an event and gives Boko weapons which he uses for his battles. Choose wisely. In battles, the damage dealt is one of the four numbers in your weapon.
- in battles, you can make Boko move faster by alternately pressing the left and right cursors. The number inside the box at Boko's side is the timer 'till he makes his move and the number outside the box beside the timer indicates Boko's HP.
- Level-up by making a tic-tac-toe alignment at the tic-tac-toe grid after every battle Boko wins.
- Boko sleeps from time to time to recover his lost HP. Just let him doze off until his HP count is full.
- Set the event wait option to on when Boko reaches around level 20, level 50 and level 75 since these are the storyline levels. At level 20, you'll get to meet Coco. At level 50, you should save Coco from falling down in order to gain her kiss which will then reward you with a star (which you need for Boko to learn the different attacks he can do at the FF8 world). And at level 75, you get to watch some fireworks with Coco.
- At level 100, Coco gets kidnapped by the evil demon king and you have to go rescue her.
